God’s Grace is Sufficient (Ignatius Tang)

God’s Grace is Sufficient

Which is greater? The grains of sand by the Deserts, the drops of water in the Oceans or the number of stars in the Universe. We are surrounded by vastness everywhere, high and low, and either way we cannot fathom the sheer magnitude of it. Magnitude that is still lesser than God’s Grace and Love for us. More accurately, God’s Grace is more so qualitative than quantitative, which is why this verse stuck with me:

2 Corinthians 12:9

“But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”

Greater than all the vastness in the Universe, God’s Grace is enough for us to sanctify ourselves and lead us back to God. In Ephesians 2:8-9, “It is by grace you have been saved, through faith - and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God - not by works, so that no one can boast.” (TULIP) The grace of God’s calling is overwhelmingly efficacious and persevering. God has set his gracious love upon us, predestined us to become like Jesus Christ, called us to faith and repentance, justified us, adopted us and his spiritual sons and daughters, begun a work of sanctification within us that will continue until the day of reckoning, and even glorified us, so certain of completion is his plan.

Philippians 1:6 say, “Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”

God successfully completes his plan for our salvation, sanctifying the work of his Spirit in the minds and hearts of his elect people. God will perfect you, establish you, strengthen you and settle you. God has plans for us to oppose our natural tendency to rely on ourselves, and trust God instead. (Footsteps) This is also reflected in Titus 2:13b-14 - “Our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works.” As we put our faith and trust in the Lord to complete his plans for our salvation, we must fulfill our purpose to spread the gospel with courage and zealousness so that we can enjoy his glory for all of eternity.
